A brand Italian by conceptual origin, Swiss by construction
Spelled all lowercase, echo/neutra is a young brand that represents the desire to “make watchmaking” of Nicola Callegaro and Cristiano Quaglia, designer and aerospace engineer, respectively. They are the founders in 2018 of this reality that, from the very beginning, has attracted the interest of enthusiasts. High precision and attention to detail, for a challenge that reconciles a natural and spontaneous passion with the search for new forms and experimentation. Often with specimens of character and personality, symbolically inspired by the mountains and, in particular, the beauty of the Dolomites.
The Averau 42, in the name of Kickstarter
The first model, presented in 2019, was the Averau 42, initially marketed using the Kickstarter platform. A mode of collective web-based funding for innovative projects, which has excited young international entrepreneurs because it allows them to test, almost immediately, public appreciation. For echo/neutra, the result has been exciting, and this mode has been complemented by the ability to purchase through the site, while for those who prefer a traditional sales experience, a select network of authorized dealers is being consolidated.
echo/neutra: the Averau and Cortina 1956 collections.
The Averau collection, enriched and complemented with different case sizes and functional complications, has been joined by the Cortina 1956line. Featuring an automatic and a vintage setting chronograph, it celebrates the first Olympics held on Italian soil after World War II. Solo Tempo, is distinguished by the central hour, minute and second hands and the lack of a date window. It also has, the bezel with a stylized mountain reproduced at 12 o’clock, a tribute to Callegaro and Quaglia’s great passion for alpine peaks. The dial, with Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock and baton hour markers, bears the year 1956 at 6 o’clock and tiny inscriptions evocative of that sporting event. Very distinctive are the hour indicators, with the hour sphere with arrowhead, the minute sphere with thin luminescent segment. Finally, the second hand with the tip that recalls the red-white-red alternation of Cai, Italian Alpine Club, signage. Waterproof to a depth of 100 meters, it houses the self-winding STP1-11 caliber inside its 40 mm diameter steel case, and qualifies for the sapphire crystal affected by deep doming.
The cutting edge: the Cortina 1956 Chronograph
The dial of the Cortina 1956 Chronograph is protected by sapphire crystal, and is produced in different color variations. The case is made of steel, but there are some limited series executed in bronze. It has a diameter of 40 mm, with watertightness guaranteed up to 100 meters; the dial, with its two-counter arrangement, is surrounded by a ceramic bezel bearing the telemetry scale. The information is driven by the Sellita caliber SW510M BH b, hand-wound.
